An astonishing 9 million http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ ci_8587441?nclick_check=1people voted in California's Feb. 5 primary.

Late Saturday, the state Democratic Party announced the final votes had been tabulated. Results:

Hillary Rodham Clinton won 204 delegates and Barack Obama won 166 delegates.

In the popular vote, Clinton beat Obama by 8 points. She received 51.5 percent to his 43.2 percent.

8% of 9 million voters....that's a lot of votes.

Very impressive.  The latino community must really love the Clintons.  But, it looks like Obama caught up a little bit since the first tally.

Re: Final California Delegate Numbers Out: Impres (none / 0)

I just heard on public radio that in this round, Obama picked up 5 delegates and Clinton 2, adding 3 to Obama's overall pledged delegate lead.

Along with the +10 from Iowa, that means he added 13 to his delegate lead on Saturday.

Down to 8%?  I'm amazed at Clinton supporters spinning a 10% lead falling to 8%.  In other good news, our chocolate ration just increased!

Speaking of a lot of votes (2.00 / 2)

I was looking at the vote totals, and it's stunning how much ground Obama made because Clinton refused to contest in some states.   Obama made up 75% of the California difference just in Georgia, not exactly considered to be a Democratic stronghold.  Maryland and Virginia combined netted him more votes than California.

Remember those two big states in New York and California that Clinton supporters like to talk about?  Obama more than wiped out those gains by combining Illinois and...  Mississippi.

It's about running up the huge margins.  A 30% vote difference in a smaller state can make up for an 8% on in a larger.

The last time I looked, Clinton has won one state by 60% or more (Arkansas) and Obama had done this with 14 or 15.
